WILMINGTON, DE – A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on September 18, 2025.

According to Wilmington Police, officers responded around 1:57 p.m. to the area of West 2nd and North DuPont Streets for a reported shooting. A 24-year-old male gunshot victim was later located and transported to the hospital in stable condition.
While on scene, officers obtained a description of the suspect vehicle. A short time later, police located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver fled the area, but the vehicle was later recovered near Oak and South Broom Streets, where officers took Travon Norton, 24, into custody without further incident.
During the investigation, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun. Norton was charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (Two Counts)
- Unlawful Imprisonment
- Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $420,000 cash-only bail.
