Man charged with vehicular homicide and DUI after fatal pedestrian crash in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE – A 21-year-old male pedestrian was killed following a vehicle collision on Northeast Boulevard late on September 18, 2025.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers were dispatched around 9:20 p.m. to the 1100 block of Northeast Boulevard in reference to a crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located the 21-year-old victim, who had succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 31-year-old Jose Ayala-Medina, was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with Vehicular Homicide 2nd Degree, Driving Under the Influence (DUI), and other traffic-related offenses.

The incident remains under investigation by the Wilmington Police Department Traffic Unit.
