Man killed during dice game shooting at Haverstock Hills Apartments, investigators say

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A 29-year-old man was killed in a shooting that occurred during a dice game at the Haverstock Hills Apartment Homes in northeast Harris County.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the complex, located at 5619 Aldine Bender Road, at approximately 9:13 p.m. on September 22, 2025. Upon arrival, deputies found a large crowd gathered in the northwest parking lot and evidence of gunfire, but no victim was located at the scene.

Investigators later learned that the victim, identified as Jermarkus Johnson, had been transported by private vehicle to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. Investigators determined the shooting occurred during an altercation that broke out at a dice game. Potential suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
