GLADEWATER, TX – A woman was shot and killed after ramming a Gregg County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle while attempting to evade law enforcement late Monday night.

According to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on October 6, 2025, near the 1100 block of East Broadway in Gladewater. Deputies with the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Gladewater Police Department were attempting to detain 43-year-old Amanda Allen at a restaurant based on intelligence linking her to narcotics trafficking.
While fleeing, Allen reportedly used her vehicle to ram a sheriff’s patrol unit, prompting a deputy to discharge his duty weapon in defense of other deputies and officers. Life-saving measures were immediately initiated, and Allen was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
No officers or deputies were seriously injured. The deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with department policy. The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
