Tip leads officers to seize 162 kilograms of methamphetamine in southwest Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A tip to police led Southwest Patrol Crime Reduction Team and Deployment officers to a major narcotics seizure in southwest Houston earlier this month.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers located a suspect believed to be trafficking illegal narcotics in the 4300 block of Communications Drive on October 1, 2025. During a traffic stop, officers recovered 162 kilograms of methamphetamine, approximately $100,000 in cash, and a handgun from the vehicle. One individual was detained as part of the ongoing investigation.

“Getting any amount of drugs off the street is a win and getting more than 160 kilos of meth off the street is a major success,” said Deputy Chief Kylee Hawks, South Patrol Group commander. “Knowing this came from a tip means people want to help us make a difference in their community.”
