COLUMBIA, PA – A woman sustained minor injuries after suffering a medical emergency that led to a dramatic crash into multiple porches in the 500 block of North Third Street.

According to Columbia Borough Police, the incident occurred on October 13, 2025, at approximately 11:37 a.m. when the woman was driving south on Chickies Hill Road and began to feel ill. Police say she lost consciousness, causing her vehicle to accelerate uncontrollably.
The vehicle struck the side of the Route 30 overpass and continued southbound on North Third Street, eventually hitting a utility pole and crashing into the front porches of several homes. The impact caused the rear of the vehicle to lift and land on overhead cables and wires, leaving it suspended from the rear.
Emergency crews extricated the driver from the vehicle and transported her to a nearby hospital. She was released the same day with minor injuries.
