Benjamin Drake Slagley, 30, was arrested on October 13, 2025, and charged with one count of arson. The arrest stems from an August 30 fire at Slagley’s residence in Swifton, which he reported to 911 while still employed as an officer.

Following the incident, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of ASP CID. Slagley has since resigned from his position with the Swifton Police Department.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Jackson County Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
