SIMI VALLEY, CA – The Simi Valley Police Department arrested an Acton woman accused of stabbing her sister in the neck during a violent assault inside a residence.

According to police, officers responded after receiving a report that a woman had been stabbed in the neck with scissors. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from a serious neck wound and rendered medical aid.
Investigators later determined that the suspect, identified as Randy Mellin of Acton, allegedly attacked her sister without provocation while receiving a haircut, breaking a wine glass and stabbing the victim in the neck with the broken glass.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Mellin was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail on a charge of attempted murder.
