SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A 32-year-old man from Houston, Texas, was arrested and charged after driving the wrong way on Route 130 early Sunday morning, causing a head-on collision.

According to South Brunswick Police, the crash occurred around 2:05 a.m. near Route 130 and Route 32. Officers arrived to find a silver Kia Forte with severe front-end damage disabled in the northbound lanes. The driver, identified as Gorge Placencia, had reportedly turned the wrong way out of the Traveler’s Inn parking lot and was driving south in the northbound lanes.
The second vehicle involved sustained major damage. The driver reported minor leg pain but declined medical treatment.
Police said Officer Justin Samuels developed probable cause that Placencia possessed narcotics. A consent search of the vehicle uncovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Field sobriety tests indicated signs of impairment.
Placencia was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, Marked Lanes, Wrong Way, and Improper Turn, along with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was processed at police headquarters and released on a summons pending his first court appearance.
No serious injuries were reported.
