Two found dead after fire at Redwood City liquor store

REDWOOD CITY, CA – Two people were found dead after a fire broke out early Monday morning at Avenue Liquor Store on Roosevelt Avenue, according to the Redwood City Fire Department.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on November 3, 2025, firefighters responded to reports of an active fire and arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames. During suppression efforts, crews opening the roof observed two individuals inside who showed no signs of life and appeared to have sustained severe burns.

Once the scene was secured, police and investigators entered the structure and confirmed the presence of two deceased individuals. Their identities have not yet been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether they were living inside the store or why they were there when the fire began.

The store owner has been contacted and is cooperating with investigators. The Redwood City Fire Department, Redwood City Police Department, and San Mateo County Coroner’s Office are conducting a joint investigation.
