WHARTON, TX – A woman was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash Saturday evening in the 500 block of East Boling Highway, according to the Wharton Police Department.
Officers were dispatched around 6 p.m. on November 8, 2025, and found the victim, identified as Sharon Llanes of Wharton, deceased at the scene.
The driver, identified as Darelle Baxter of Wharton, remained on scene, cooperated with investigators, and consented to a full interview. He was released afterward and has not been criminally charged at this time.
Police obtained a blood search warrant for Baxter as part of standard investigative procedures. Field sobriety tests did not indicate intoxication, and final toxicology results are pending.
The Wharton Police Department is leading the investigation and stated that it remains open and active.
