Arkansas State Police investigating officer-involved shooting in Magnolia

MAGNOLIA, AR – The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon involving a Magnolia Police Department officer and a 53-year-old Magnolia man.

According to preliminary information, the incident happened around 1:40 p.m. on November 9, 2025, when an officer patrolling South Fredrick Road encountered the man, who reportedly brandished a firearm and fired at the officer. The officer returned fire, striking the suspect multiple times.

The suspect was flown to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, where he remains hospitalized.

Special agents with the Arkansas State Police will submit their investigative file to the Columbia County Prosecutor’s Office to determine whether the officer’s use of deadly force was consistent with state law.
