HOUSTON, TX — Greenwood Lounge released a formal statement addressing a law enforcement operation that took place at the business during the early morning hours of Dec. 6.

According to the statement, at approximately 3 a.m., an investor for Greenwood Lounge was stopped by law enforcement while en route to the establishment, removed from his vehicle, detained, and transported to the front entrance of the lounge. The investor was then escorted inside by multiple officers and questioned regarding an allegation that alcohol had been sold to an undercover officer.

Greenwood Lounge stated it operates as a BYOB venue and that any alcohol stored on site was secured in locked cabinets for future, scheduled day-party events. The statement says no alcohol was displayed, sold, or served at the time of the operation, but officers cut cabinet locks and confiscated the stored alcohol.

The statement further claims numerous individuals were handcuffed and detained for several hours, despite no arrests or charges being made. Greenwood Lounge estimated approximately 30 officers were present during the operation.

The business also addressed comments attributed to a supervising officer, who allegedly stated that “a lot of bad people” were associated with Greenwood Lounge. The statement said no employees were arrested and described the comment as false and damaging.

Greenwood Lounge said it has been working with the City of Houston to secure required permits and remain compliant, stating that delays were related to property management issues rather than noncompliance by the business or its investors.

In the statement, Greenwood Lounge denied any association with drug trafficking, drug activity, human trafficking, prostitution, or similar criminal conduct, and said it remains committed to transparency, regulatory compliance, and correcting misinformation related to the incident.
