Man pushing bicycle struck and killed while crossing road outside crosswalk

HOUSTON, TX – A man approximately 50 years old was fatally struck by a vehicle while pushing his bicycle across a roadway in Houston.

The crash occurred as the man was walking across the street, and police noted he was not crossing in a designated crosswalk.

Investigators said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating. The driver showed no signs of intoxication, and field sobriety tests were conducted at the scene.

Witnesses reported that the victim may not have been paying attention as he crossed.

Speed is not currently believed to be a factor, but investigators are working to confirm that through calculations based on roadway evidence. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to gather witness statements, review video surveillance, and confirm the man’s identity.

This is a developing story and more information will follow if it becomes available.
