Teen killed in shooting at unsanctioned car meet near Greenspoint Mall

HOUSTON, TX – An individual in his late teens was pronounced deceased following a shooting during an unsanctioned car meet near Greenspoint Mall, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said a call came in around 1 a.m. to the North Belt Patrol Division regarding a shooting that had just occurred. Officers responded to the 200 block of Greens Road, where they found a large, unsanctioned car meet taking place in a parking lot.

According to investigators, a shooting occurred at some point during the gathering. One individual was struck by gunfire and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said there is no description at this time of the shooter or shooters. Investigators are asking anyone with information about what transpired to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers.

Investigators said the victim was not inside a vehicle when he was shot. Several vehicles were left at the scene after the crowd scattered, and some vehicles may have been struck by gunfire. Police said it is unclear whether those vehicles were involved or simply parked in the area.

HPD said the investigation remains ongoing.
