HOUSTON, TX – A leaking industrial-style barrel found near a downtown intersection was determined to likely contain cooking grease, according to Constable Alan Rosen’s Office.
The barrel was located in a parking lot near the intersection of Preston and Travis, and the liquid made its way into the street.
The Harris County Constable Precinct 1 Environmental Crimes team responded to the call, along with the Houston Police Department and Houston Fire Department. Several streets were shut down to traffic until it was determined safe by HFD Hazmat.
Officials also stated there is no hazard to the public, and a full cleanup is underway.
