One dead, two critically injured after shooting during basketball game at Galena Park

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A shooting at a park basketball court on Keene Street in Galena Park left one male deceased and two others critically injured.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a group of males had gathered near a basketball court when a disturbance possibly involving a fight occurred. Multiple vehicles then arrived, and gunfire was exchanged.

One male, described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other males fled the area before collapsing at a nearby location and were transported to hospitals in critical condition.

Investigators said more than 20 shots were fired during the incident. It remains unclear how many shooters were involved, and no confirmed suspect information has been released.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, working with Galena Park Police Department and other agencies. A person was detained, but their involvement has not been confirmed.
