HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A woman was killed during a domestic disturbance at a home in the Cypress area.

The shooting occurred around 9:00 p.m. in the 14100 block of Cypress Falls in the Fairwood subdivision near Grant Road.

According to Harris County Precinct 4, deputies along with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a weapons disturbance call at the residence. A 44-year-old female was shot by her estranged husband during the incident.

The suspect fled the scene but was later located in the area by Harris County Precinct 4 and DPS at the dead end of Fallbrook near Walnut Lake in the Wortham Falls subdivision. Authorities said the suspect was still armed and discharged a weapon at arriving officers.

The Harris County SWAT team responded, and the suspect was detained without further incident.

At one point during the standoff, a SWAT sniper hitched a ride on a flatbed truck.

Investigators waited for a warrant to search the suspect’s vehicle for the weapon used.

Two children, ages 6 and 18, were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Authorities said the suspect forced entry into the residence and discharged the weapon multiple times. The children were not physically harmed.
