HCSO: Man shot and killed during altercation in apartment parking lot

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A man was shot and killed during an altercation at an apartment complex in the Cypress area.

The shooting occurred around 6:53 p.m. at Regency Park Apartments, located at 11300 Regency Green Drive. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a life-in-danger call after a 911 caller reported he had shot a male who was fighting him.

Deputies arrived within minutes, detained the shooter, and secured the weapon. They then rendered aid by applying chest seals to the victim until EMS arrived. The victim, believed to be an 18-year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The shooter is believed to be a 23-year-old male and remained at the scene. Preliminary information indicates both the shooter and the victim were inside a third male’s apartment before moving into the parking lot, where an altercation occurred that led to the shooting.

A third male has been identified and detained by deputies.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are canvassing the area for video, interviewing witnesses, and gathering evidence.

There is no ongoing threat to the community. This is a developing investigation and more information will follow if it becomes available.
