PORT ARTHUR, TX – Self-described activist David Jones posted a series of messages on social media referencing possible violence at polling locations during the Port Arthur election and mentioning several local figures by name.

In the posts, Jones wrote: “Don’t let Brandon Bartie, Roosevelt Petry, and Candice Matthews sway or intimidate your vote.” He then urged people to contact the Port Arthur Police Department before going to vote and stated: “Take some weapons with you to the polls.”
Jones also wrote: “I sure hope nobody die at the polls today,” and referenced Gabriel Funeral Home, stating: “Somebody call Gabriel Funeral Home and tell them to make sure they have some space. It don’t look good.”
Additional posts referenced “county conspirators” allegedly aligned with Dr. Matthews.
It is not known at this time whether law enforcement has responded to or is investigating the statements. No charges or arrests related to the posts were immediately known.
