PORT ARTHUR, TX – Dr. Candice Matthews was seen outside a Port Arthur polling location looking for self-described Port Arthur activist David Jones while discussing allegations made by homeless men in Houston during a recorded interaction. Thurman Bill Bartie, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress District 14 in Texas, also appeared in the video and discussed his congressional campaign.
During the interaction, Dr. Matthews repeatedly referenced items she claimed were left behind near the FM 1960 corridor in Houston. She stated homeless men had recently contacted her and made allegations involving Jones.
Dr. Matthews claimed the men showed her items they alleged belonged to Jones, including a needle and other personal belongings. She later walked around the polling location asking individuals if they had seen Jones and stated she was attempting to return the items.
No criminal charges related to the allegations mentioned in the video were discussed during the recording.
The video also included discussion surrounding the Congressional District 14 runoff election and criticism of Jefferson County Justice of the Peace Joseph “Joe” Guillory. Bartie discussed the counties included in the district and urged residents to vote before polls closed.
