One dead, one critical after shooting at family crawfish boil in northeast Houston

HOUSTON — Police say a man was shot and killed, and another man was critically injured, during a shooting at a family crawfish boil in northeast Houston early this morning.

Police responded to a shooting call around 1:30 a.m. in the 7700 block of Bretshire, where a family gathering was taking place.

According to investigators, an argument occurred between the shooter and two adult male victims. The shooter allegedly opened fire, striking both men.

The deceased victim was shot in the chest and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim was shot in the neck and chest. A female drove him to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities said all parties involved were attending the gathering. The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released.

The suspected shooter has been detained as the investigation continues.
