Man shot four times in arm during argument between two families northeast Houston

HOUSTON, Texas — A man was hospitalized after being shot multiple times during a dispute involving two families in northeast Houston earlier this morning.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., officers responded to an assault in progress in the 7300 block of North Wayside Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a man in his mid-30s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the arm.

According to the Houston Police Department, the victim was shot four times in the arm and was transported by the Houston Fire Department to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Investigators said the shooting stemmed from an argument between two families. Preliminary information indicates members of both groups allegedly pulled out firearms and began shooting at each other. The victim was the only person struck by gunfire.

Police said officers had responded to an earlier disturbance involving the same families. During that incident, an argument nearly escalated into a fight, but no injuries were reported.

Investigators believe the dispute may be related to allegations that one person was involved in a relationship with someone else’s spouse.

Three persons of interest were detained and questioned following the shooting. According to Houston police, those individuals included a female and two juveniles. Investigators said the victim was unable to identify the shooter, and no arrests had been announced as of the briefing.

Officers searched both apartments involved in the incident and recovered one firearm. The case has been assigned to HPD Major Assaults detectives.

Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public. Anyone with information is urged to contact HPD Major Assaults or Crime Stoppers.
