Woman accused of confronting Dr. Matthews identified; warrant accepted, according to Precinct 4

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The woman involved in a confrontation earlier today in a restaurant with Dr. Matthews has been identified as Aisha Shahid.

The confrontation was captured on video by both Dr. Matthews and Shahid.

Shahid has previously been publicly associated with David Jones, a self-described Port Arthur activist who has been a longtime critic of Dr. Matthews.

Jones previously drew attention during a Jefferson County election when social media posts attributed to him referenced bringing weapons to polling locations and included statements such as, “I sure hope nobody die at the polls today.” Houston Stringer previously reported on those posts.

After the confrontation, Dr. Matthews contacted Harris County Constable Precinct 4, and a deputy advised her that after discussing with the DA, they are going to charge her with Terroristic Threat instead of harassment.

In a video recorded after the confrontation, EOS Fitness management confirmed to Dr. Matthews’ head of security that Shahid is employed by the gym. According to statements made in the video, EOS Fitness said it would be taking appropriate measures regarding the matter.

As of publication, court records related to the reported warrant were not immediately available for review.

Additional details are expected as the case progresses.
