HOUSTON – A woman was injured after she was struck by a stray bullet while standing outside her home in northeast Houston.

Around 3 a.m., Houston police responded to the 4000 block of Liberty after receiving reports of a shooting.
Officers found an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip. According to police, the woman told investigators she had stepped outside to smoke a cigarette when she was struck by a stray bullet.
The victim was unable to provide any additional details about the shooting.
She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
