Travel trailer fire prompts upgraded response after firefighters encounter lack of hydrants

HOUSTON – A travel trailer caught fire Tuesday night, prompting an upgraded response after firefighters determined there were no fire hydrants in the area.

According to the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office, firefighters responded late Thursday evening to the 800 block of Gateside for a reported fire involving a travel trailer.

Officials said the call was upgraded because there were no hydrants in the area, requiring additional tanker trucks to respond.

Authorities said the property contained what they described as “collected treasures.” Officials noted the property is private property and not a junkyard.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
