HOUSTON – A motorcyclist was killed after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a light pole along the Katy Freeway service road early Thursday morning.

The crash occurred about 3:05 a.m. in the 7400 block of the eastbound Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road near North Post Oak, according to the Houston Police Department.
Investigators said the rider was operating a blue Kawasaki Ninja when the motorcycle left the roadway. The rider was ejected after the motorcycle struck a curb and then a light pole.
Houston Fire Department personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Police said the rider appeared to be a man in his early 20s at the scene, but his identity is being withheld pending notification of family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Investigators said preliminary evidence indicates no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
