HOUSTON, Texas — A driver was killed after a single-vehicle crash at the Sam Houston Central Toll Plaza late Tuesday night.

According to police, the crash occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. at the Sam Houston Central Toll Plaza, located at 6121 W. Sam Houston Parkway North.

Police said a single vehicle crashed into the toll plaza and caught fire.

The driver, who was the only person inside the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said it is unknown at this time whether speed played a role in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
