HOUSTON, Texas — A man was fatally shot Friday evening near a park at a north Houston apartment complex after what investigators believe may have been an argument between people who knew each other.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a shooting in progress call with reports of shots fired between approximately 7:15 and 7:30 p.m. at the Monticello on Cranbrook apartments in the 13900 block of Ella Boulevard.

When deputies arrived, they found an adult man in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was unresponsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators said the victim, the suspected shooter and possibly another man had been together talking before the shooting. Authorities believe the individuals may have known each other and are working to determine what led to the argument that ended in gunfire.

The shooting occurred near a park at the apartment complex where children were playing at the time. Investigators said multiple shots were fired, but no one else was injured.

Detectives are following leads on a possible suspect. No weapon was recovered at the scene, and investigators have not yet determined whether there was one shooter or multiple shooters.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers of Houston. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest or the filing of charges.
