HOUSTON – Dr. Candice Matthews and Quanell X visited a Church’s Chicken restaurant on Homestead Road near Tidwell Road in northeast Houston after a customer alleged a ring was found inside a piece of chicken purchased for the customer’s grandmother. During the visit, they questioned employees about the incident, food handling practices and the restaurant’s response.

According to statements made by both Quanell X and Dr. Matthews at the restaurant, the grandmother allegedly bit into the ring while eating her meal and later sought medical attention. They also alleged and showed video of employees who identified the ring as belonging to someone working in the back of the restaurant and criticized what they described as a lack of concern for the customer.

Throughout the visit, Matthews and Quanell X repeatedly pointed to employees they said were handling food without gloves and raised concerns about sanitation inside the restaurant. They also encouraged customers waiting inside to request refunds while calling for health officials to inspect the location.

The pair repeatedly requested to speak with a manager and criticized the restaurant’s handling of the reported incident. Several customers were encouraged to leave the restaurant and seek refunds while they continued documenting conditions inside the business.
