HOUSTON, TX — Dr. Matthews said she has delivered additional evidence to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office that she believes is relevant to an ongoing criminal investigation involving Aubrey Taylor. The material, according to Dr. Matthews, includes a Facebook post and supporting documents concerning Taylor’s alleged possession of body armor.
According to Dr. Matthews, the evidence includes a Facebook post in which Taylor allegedly discusses possessing body armor and cites 18 U.S.C. § 931. Dr. Matthews argued Taylor, whom she described as a multiple-time convicted felon with a violent conviction, does not qualify for the federal employment exemption because, she alleges, the law requires written certification from an employer or another employee and does not permit self-certification.
Dr. Matthews also said searches of Texas Secretary of State records and franchise tax records did not locate what she described as Taylor’s business registration. She questioned how public officials were making payments to Taylor and said her media team plans to contact judges, attorneys and other individuals she identified as allegedly doing business with him.
During her remarks, Dr. Matthews also cited 18 U.S.C. § 931 and Texas Penal Code 46.041, arguing Taylor does not meet the requirements for an employment-related exemption. She further alleged Taylor wore body armor at a polling location, characterizing it as voter intimidation and arguing political activity does not qualify for the federal employment exemption she referenced.
Dr. Matthews said the additional evidence will be provided to prosecutors for review and called for further scrutiny of Taylor and payments she alleges were made to him by public officials. The allegations made during the news conference have not been independently verified, and any determination regarding potential criminal violations rests with law enforcement and prosecutors.
