HOUSTON, TX – A 19-year-old man was critically injured after someone in another vehicle opened fire on a pickup truck traveling along the North Freeway late Sunday night.
Houston police said North Belt Patrol officers were traveling along the North Freeway feeder road near Glenborough Drive around 11:40 p.m. when they noticed a pickup truck stopped along the side of the road.
Officers stopped to investigate and found the truck had been struck by gunfire several times. A 19-year-old man riding in the back seat had been shot at least once.
The Houston Fire Department responded and transported the man to a local hospital. He was in critical condition as of the last update from police.
According to witnesses, the shooting occurred as the truck was traveling southbound on the North Freeway near Airtex Drive. An unknown vehicle pulled alongside the truck and someone fired several rounds into it.
Police said at least three people were inside the truck at the time of the shooting.
No suspect or suspect vehicle description was immediately available.
