HOUSTON, TX — An ICE agent was injured before a federal pursuit ended in a crash at Veterans Memorial Drive and Fallbrook Drive around 6:40 a.m. Saturday.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified around 6:30 a.m. that federal agents were pursuing a suspect vehicle from Montgomery County on Interstate 45 toward Houston.
The ICE agent injured his arm and was cut by glass while attempting to break the vehicle’s driver-side window at another location.
The suspect vehicle later struck another car, causing it to flip and leaving its occupants with minor injuries. A passenger in the suspect vehicle refused medical services and later went to a hospital on her own.
The suspect fled into a wooded area. Deputies searched with a K-9 but lost the scent and ended the perimeter.
Federal agents were pursuing the suspect because he had a final removal order through ICE.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says they mainly responded to the crash and are filing failure to stop and render aid charges, while federal agents are filing federal charges.
The suspect remained on the run when the scene was cleared.
