HOUSTON, TX – A man allegedly stabbed his brother before barricading himself inside an apartment where he and his father were later found deceased following a fire.
Houston police said officers responded to Garden Oaks Village Apartments in the 4400 block of North Shepherd Drive around 4:20 p.m. and found a 22-year-old man outside with a stab wound to his back. He was hospitalized in stable condition.
Police said an argument between the brothers led to the stabbing. The 20-year-old suspect then barricaded himself inside the apartment with their 59-year-old disabled father and refused to come outside.
Officers heard possible gunshots before smoke and flames appeared. As firefighters worked to control the fire, SWAT officers donned firefighting equipment and entered the apartment in an attempt to rescue the father and son. Both were found deceased.
The medical examiner will determine how they died. Homicide and arson investigators are also investigating.
