HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man was found deceased beneath an overpass in the 18200 block of Homestead Road shortly before 9 p.m.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a man walking in the area discovered the body before going to a nearby store and notifying a clerk. The clerk then called authorities.

Deputies found the man unresponsive and in a state of decomposition. EMS personnel confirmed him deceased at the scene.

Investigators found no apparent signs of injury, but the decomposition limited the initial examination. The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The man’s identity, age and race remain unknown. Although he was initially reported as homeless, investigators said no one interviewed in the area recognized him.

Investigators are also asking the man who discovered the body and left before deputies arrived to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
