HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A child believed to be 5 years old was killed after gunfire struck a vehicle carrying the child and a woman just before midnight last night.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said deputies responded to a reported roadway shooting in the 11800 block of Grant Road. The child was struck and transported by Life Flight to a hospital, where the child was pronounced deceased.

Deputies also had a scene at the Estates at Cypress apartments, but it remains unclear how that scene is connected to the shooting.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded. No information about a possible suspect or what led to the shooting was immediately released.
