HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A 68-year-old man was shot and killed during a domestic incident at Pines of Woodforest Apartments in East Harris County.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 6:46 p.m. to a life-in-danger call. Deputies found a 50-year-old woman and her husband, who had suffered a gunshot wound.

Deputies attempted CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived, but the man was pronounced deceased.

Investigators said the woman claimed her husband was assaulting her and she shot him. She was considered a suspect, but detectives were still working to verify her account.

The husband and wife, who are both Hispanic, were the only people inside the apartment when the shooting occurred. Their adult daughter arrived afterward.

At the time of the briefing, investigators had not entered the apartment or recovered a weapon. They were working to obtain a search warrant or consent to search the residence.

The woman was expected to be taken to HCSO’s Lockwood facility to provide a statement.

HCSO previously responded to the apartment once for a standby request while the woman removed belongings. No incident occurred during that call.
