HOUSTON, TX — An 18-wheeler caught fire overnight, shutting down all northbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway just past Spur 527.

The fire began around 2:30 a.m. Crews were still working to clear the scene at 5:20 a.m.

The truck was carrying a shipping container marked “China Shipping.” The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
