Motorcyclist suffers life-threatening injuries in crash involving disabled vehicle in roadway

A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash involving a vehicle that had become inoperable in the roadway in the 11700 block of T.C. Jester, according to Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office.

EMS crews treated the rider at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was undergoing surgery at the time of the update.

Preliminary findings indicate the disabled vehicle’s driver had exited to seek help getting it off the roadway before the crash. Investigators have not determined whether the vehicle ran out of gas or experienced a mechanical problem.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage to determine whether speed contributed to the crash and whether the disabled vehicle’s lights or hazard lights were on.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said the preliminary findings could change.
