HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A driver died after losing control of a vehicle, striking a wall and being ejected during a rollover crash early Monday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched around 12:34 a.m. Nov. 2 to the 17700 block of Interstate 10 East.
Witnesses reported a black Cadillac CTS traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. The Cadillac passed in the left lane before the driver lost control and struck a wall, investigators said.
The vehicle rolled and came to rest in the third lane. The driver was ejected and landed in the roadway. Responding deputies found him with no signs of life.
Investigators described the driver as an unidentified adult male believed to be in his 20s. He was the vehicle’s sole occupant, and no other vehicles were involved.
Investigators said the driver appeared to have been unrestrained. A witness reported traveling about 80 mph when the Cadillac passed at a higher speed. The Cadillac’s speed had not been determined.
Investigators also reported alcoholic beverages in the roadway and a slight odor of alcohol inside the Cadillac. They had not determined whether the beverages came from the vehicle or whether alcohol contributed to the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
