TEXAS — Dr. Candice Matthews is calling for accountability following two alleged incidents involving Vice President Nyanza Moore of Jack and Jill of America’s Greater Channel Chapter.

The chapter’s official website lists Valencia Compton-Bauswell as president, Moore as vice president and NeKetcia Simmons as financial secretary.
According to an account outlined in Dr. Matthews’ official statement, Compton-Bauswell allegedly snatched a microphone from Moore’s hand and moved her aside during an Oct. 5 meeting. Dr. Matthews said Moore was unable to complete her presentation.
At an Oct. 29 executive board meeting convened to address that incident, Simmons allegedly became confrontational and attempted to assault Moore, requiring other board members to intervene, according to Dr. Matthews.
Dr. Matthews said she was informed that everyone involved was prepared to apologize except Simmons. In a separate recorded statement, Dr. Matthews said she had spoken with Moore and described her as a longtime friend.
“An organization dedicated to children and families must model respect, restraint, and accountability,” Dr. Matthews said in her official statement.
Dr. Matthews called on Compton-Bauswell to address both incidents and pursue Simmons’ removal through the organization’s established procedures, including a fair review and an opportunity for those involved to respond.
Dr. Matthews said she would contact national leadership and request a formal investigation into both incidents and the chapter’s handling of them if Compton-Bauswell fails to act.
“Our children deserve leadership that practices the values it promotes,” Dr. Matthews said.
