June 12, 2023 – A fatal shooting incident occurred in Houston, Texas early Saturday morning, resulting in the death of one man and the injury of another, as confirmed by the Houston Police Department (HPD). The event took place at 8700 Woodway Drive around 3:30 a.m.
The deceased individual, believed to be in his early to mid-30s, has not yet been identified, and verification is pending by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to the HPD Homicide Division, officers were first called to the scene of a shooting at an apartment complex parking lot. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital by the Houston Fire Department paramedics, where he was later pronounced dead.
In a neighboring apartment complex, the officers found a second man who had sustained a gunshot wound. He was also transported to a local hospital; however, his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the surviving man had confronted two male suspects he found burglarizing his garage. One of the suspects shot him, and in return, he fired back, hitting one of the suspects multiple times. Both suspects managed to escape, but the wounded suspect later collapsed in the apartment complex parking lot. Despite being taken to the hospital, he did not survive his injuries.
