Teenager dies after being ejected from vehicle during major crash

HOUSTON, TEXAS – February 18 – Houston police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Sunday at 7200 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59). The collision resulted in the death of a 17-year-old male, whose identity is awaiting verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to a press release from the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, the incident involved a black Honda Accord traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. The 23-year-old male driver of the Honda was reportedly weaving through traffic when he collided with a black Chevrolet Tahoe. Following the collision, the Honda veered off the road and struck trees in the grassy median adjacent to the freeway, leading to the teen being ejected.

Paramedics pronounced the passenger deceased at the scene. The driver of the Honda was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. He was questioned by authorities and found not to be impaired. Occupants of the Chevrolet Tahoe involved in the incident sustained no injuries.

As of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
