LBJ Hospital Goes Into Brief Lockdown; One Critically Injured After Road Rage Shooting

HOUSTON, TX (June 9, 2024) – One man is critically injured and LBJ Hospital went into lockdown after a road rage incident lead to a chase and shooting. Police were dispatched around 1 a.m.

According to police, the incident started when a truck and another vehicle crashed near 610 and Homestead Rd.

The truck then fled the scene and the suspect followed them to the 9700 block of Homestead where they started to argue. Some additional family members showed up and scared off the suspects but as the truck was fleeing, the suspects started shooting at the truck striking one of the passengers in the head. At that point the truck started to drive to LBJ Hospital to get help for the passenger.

When they arrived at the hospital, a DPS Trooper working security rushed everyone into the emergency area and locked the doors.

The chase then continued and the truck ended up crashing in a bike lane.

The suspects fired one more shot before fleeing the scene.

Police say while the hospital went into a brief lockdown, no one was injured at the hospital and no shots were fired inside the hospital.

The victim was transported to another hospital and is said to be in critical condition.
