Charges have been filed against Juan J. Mares-Chaves, 57, in the fatal shooting of his wife at 8830 Ledge Street around 4:45 p.m. on July 24.
Mares-Chaves is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court.
According to the Houston Police Department, HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the residence and found an unresponsive woman with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the driveway. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
Mares-Chaves remained at the scene and informed officers that he shot his wife following an argument.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and Mares-Chaves was subsequently charged and booked into the Harris County Jail.
The identity of the deceased woman, 57, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
