9 injured, 2 killed after drive-by shooting at block party on Laura Koppe

HOUSTON, TX – A drive-by shooting at the intersection of Laura Koppe and Lockwood during a block party left two people dead and at least nine others injured, according to the Houston Police Department.

The incident occurred when a white truck drove by the gathered crowd and fired multiple rounds. Witnesses reported that the truck fled the scene, traveling westbound on Laura Koppe towards Highway 59.

Authorities have confirmed that the two deceased individuals are black males in their early 20s, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The nine others injured in the incident are all adults, with varying ages. They were either struck by gunfire or hurt while fleeing the scene. Some were transported to local hospitals, while others drove themselves. These numbers might change as the investigation is still in its preliminary stages.

Police are currently gathering evidence at the scene and reviewing video surveillance from nearby businesses. Initial findings indicate that at least two different calibers of shell casings were found at the scene, suggesting multiple firearms were involved.
