HOUSTON, TX – A fatal accident involving a cyclist and a motor vehicle, a Nissan occurred on the Eastex Freeway service road.
The fatal crash occurred in the 23100 block of Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road around 1:05 p.m. near Kingwood Dr.
According to police, a bicyclist was traveling southbound on the service road near the above address when, as he changed lanes, he was struck from behind by a red Nissan Rogue. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the bicyclist deceased.
The driver of the Nissan, a 74-year-old female, remained at the scene. Police determined she was not impaired, and after being questioned, she was released.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
