HOUSTON, TX — Dr. Matthews celebrated Monday after two protective orders filed against her were unsuccessful in Harris County court.

The latest decisions follow three previous protective order cases filed by Jenifer Knighton, Eric Sanchez and Knighton’s daughter that were dismissed or denied.

Dr. Matthews alleges the applicants are part of a group working together and in conjunction with Judge Curvey to file protective orders in the 280th District Court in an attempt to silence Dr. Matthews on social media.

Dr. Matthews identified the latest applicants as Dr. Caddie of Leaders Esteem University and Natalie Stewart, rapper Cartel Bo’s mother. She said their allegations did not meet the legal threshold required for a protective order under Texas law and were unsupported by evidence.

Attorney Adjua Rochelle Umoja-Justice said protective orders should not be used to resolve social media disputes or personal disagreements.

“Just because somebody don’t like you and you don’t like them and they run you down on social media, that is not a place to try to do a criminal protective order,” Umoja-Justice said.

Umoja-Justice said those disputes should be addressed through civil lawsuits. She said protective order courts are already overworked and handle cases involving people facing life-threatening circumstances.

Dr. Matthews and Umoja-Justice also criticized Judge Curvey’s handling of protective order applications. Dr. Matthews accused Judge Curvey of approving applications that do not satisfy legal requirements and announced plans to file another judicial complaint against her.

Dr. Matthews said she also has two upcoming justice of the peace court hearings involving allegations against her and warned people to “Do not come in the water if you can’t swim with the sharks”.
