Man killed after exiting moving truck during argument with sister on Gulf Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A man in his 20s was struck and killed after stepping out of a moving truck on the Gulf Freeway near Scarsdale Boulevard earlier this morning.

Houston police said three people were traveling home after leaving Whiskey River around 2:30 a.m. The man’s sister was in the front passenger seat, her boyfriend was driving, and the man was in the back seat.

During the trip, the man began punching and fighting with his sister. He attempted to roll down a window and exit the moving truck, but the other occupants tried to stop him.

After he was unable to exit through the window, the man opened the rear door and stepped out while the truck was traveling approximately 60 mph. The driver then pulled over.

Witnesses traveling behind the truck swerved to avoid striking the man. Police said a white Chevrolet Camaro then struck and ran over him before continuing from the scene.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police have not located the Camaro, and the reason for the fighting remains unknown.
