HOUSTON — A wind-driven, two-alarm fire at a cleaning supply warehouse left an estimated four or five businesses with at least smoke damage Friday evening. No injuries were reported.
The Northwest Fire Department responded around 8 p.m. to UniClean America in the 12100 block of Antoine Drive. Crews arrived to find the warehouse fully involved in flames, with numerous chemicals involved.
Wind contributed to the fire’s spread. Multiple fire departments assisted, and crews ran a line to reach additional water sources. The sheriff’s office helped with traffic control.
Hazmat crews responded to manage runoff and conduct air monitoring. Booms were placed to help contain the runoff, and water testing showed a neutral pH. Harris County Public Health was also called to assist with runoff.
Hazmat crews are working to identify the products and chemicals involved.
The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire’s origin and cause. No information currently suggests the fire was arson-related, but the investigation remains ongoing.
